Our Humble Beginning

The Inspiration

During the 2020 stay-at-home mandates, one-on-one, iterant pediatric physical therapist became one of the most requested forms of physical therapy.  This situation paved the way for the conceptualization of TheraPlay Pediatrics to deliver research-based therapy through meaningful play in the convenience of every child’s home.

Play-Based Therapy

TheraPlay Pediatrics transforms research-proven pediatric physical therapy interventions into fun, interactive, and developmentally appropriate games during playtime.  Play-based therapy motivates children who are younger than 5 years old to participate in a wide range of creative and fun activities at the child’s home and natural environment.

Early intervention has been proven to usher children to their desired milestones. TheraPlay Pediatrics assist children in optimizing their potential.

The TheraPlayers

Every licensed therapists at TheraPlay Pediatrics (called “TheraPlayers”) is an expert in evaluating, treating, and managing infants and children with congenital, developmental, neuromuscular, and skeletal pathologies.  TheraPlayers are adept in identifying typical and atypical patterns of infant and toddler development and learning skills.

While TheraPlay Pediatrics focuses on motor development, TheraPlayers give equal importance to holistic development and learning in all domains, such as cognition, communication, social-emotional, fine motor, and adaptive skills.  TheraPlayers are experienced in designing patient-centered regimens tailor-fit to every child and their family needs so that every child may improve, restore, or maintain optimal physical and developmental functioning.

The Founder

Fascinated at an early age by the science of how the body moves, Arcel decided to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy. In 2000, Arcel completed her Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy and soon after completed her training and licensing in physical therapy.  Over the years, she has gained valuable clinical experiences in  treating a variety of patients from all age ranges. In 2012, Arcel decided to subspecialize  and dedicate her practice exclusively to Pediatric Physical Therapy Rehabilitation–with an emphasis in Early Intervention. As an Early Intervention specialist, Arcel thrives in addressing the physical therapy needs of children zero to five years of age. Arcel earned her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy (“DPT”) from Chapman University in Orange County, California.

Ms. Arcel, as greeted fondly by children and parents alike, looks forward to helping every client achieve their gross motor milestones by incorporating the science of physical therapy into an enjoyable and meaningful play, the TheraPlay way!
